The Office of Justice Programs’ National Institute of
Justice today announced an article online that discusses how the use of mobile
broadband technology improves law enforcement operations. The article provides
valuable guidance for agencies considering installing a wireless network.
Public safety agencies are moving toward using dedicated
wireless networks to improve information sharing with other agencies, decrease
paperwork and improve response times. However, they are often challenged with
planning and integrating the technology into agency policy and practice. This research provides the guidance and best
practices needed to ensure successful outcomes and maximum benefits from
technology improvements and lays a foundation for future research to further
examine their impact on police operations.
