3/28/2013 - ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Robins could one day be home to a solar photovoltaic plant.
Georgia Power, in cooperation with the Georgia Public Service
Commission, is encouraging new solar development opportunities to help
increase the state's solar generation.
The Air Force is offering 57 acres of property here as a potential site
for a commercial plant. It is part of a program known as Enhanced Use
Leasing.
The proposed site would be on the southwest side of the base.
An Industry Day, hosted by Robins and the Air Force Civil Engineer
Center out of Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., is scheduled for April 4 for
potential developers to learn more about Air Force energy development
opportunities and EUL programs and processes, and visit the local site.
"This is a great opportunity for the base to participate in a renewable energy project," said Dave Bury, Base Energy manager.
