Aerial Services Inc. (ASI) Doubles its Sensors with Leica Geosystems' ADS80

Leica ADS80 purchase will help meet increasing business demand, expand its NAIP acquisition portfolio and provide the capacity to build new business.

(Norcross, Ga., 23 Mar. 2010) As a prominent aerial imagery and geospatial solutions provider in the United States, ASI's recent acquisition further strengthens Leica Geosystems' position as the leading provider of digital aerial technology and the partner of choice for leading aerial photography providers. This is ASI's second purchase in less than two years.

The first U.S. geospatial firm to purchase a Leica ADS80 sensor back in 2008, ASI has been able to quickly and successfully expand its imaging capabilities to enhance its geospatial solutions offerings, including orthophotos and 3D feature mapping. Keen to maintain its reputation as an innovator and competent aerial imaging partner, ASI purchased its second Leica ADS80 to further meet customer demands as well as build and win new business opportunities.

Having a second Leica ADS80 will be particularly beneficial in supporting ASI's participation in the USDA's National Aerial Imagery Program (NAIP), the largest aerial photography campaign in US history. As one of six prime contractors to the program, ASI will use the increased flexibility, capacity and efficiency of its two Leica ADS80 sensors to not only help increase its profile within the program, but also provide the latitude to continue to develop data products for its other growing clientele in the engineering, utility and forestry industries.

"The Leica ADS80 is the most sophisticated, simplest to use and most productive large-format camera on the market," said Mike Tully, president and CEO of ASI, based in Cedar Falls, Iowa. "The XPro image processing software adds further power to a great camera and enables us to deliver extremely accurate orthophotography to clients extremely quickly. Furthermore, Leica Geosystems has an unceasing desire to improve and support its technology, which makes them an excellent partner for our business. Its technology and technical support staff not only enables us to remain competitive, they give us the platform to better our solutions portfolio, expand our acquisition campaigns, and solicit for aggressive, complex aerial mapping programs."

"Leica Geosystems is very proud to have its technology at the helm of such a leader in the industry," said Shawn Slade, Airborne Imaging and LiDAR Sales for Western U.S. & Western Canada with Leica Geosystems. "We look forward to continuing to support ASI's very healthy and steadily growing digital aerial survey business."
