The Ambrose Diaphonic Ear Lens (ADELTM),
which looks like a tiny ear-sealing balloon, is a sacrificial membrane that
disrupts excessive pressure waves, protecting the ear drum when in-ear
listening devices are used. Developed by Asius Technologies, the research was
supported in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation's Small
Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.
