Allen Telescope Array (Image 11 and 12)

The ATA, which is comprised of a large number of small dishes, is used for radio astronomy observations of our galaxy and other galaxies, gamma ray bursts and transient radio sources, and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI). The ATA is a joint project of the SETI Institute and the Radio Astronomy Lab at the University of California, Berkeley. It is located in Hat Creek, Calif. Partial operating costs of the array are supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation (AST 08-38262).
