Air Force Public Affairs
8/4/2012 - Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. -- As
Air Force Space Command approaches its 30th Anniversary on 1 Sep, here
is a significant milestone from the command's history...
On 18 Mar 1993, the 7th Space Operations Squadron, located at Schriever
Air Force Base, Colo., was activated as the first Air Force Reserve
space unit assigned to support Air Force Space Command. The 7th SOPS
paved the way for the integration of reserve units across AFSPC.
Today, the squadron mission is focused on operating the Multi-Mission
Satellite Operations Center and providing expert assistance to the
Space-Based Space Surveillance program. The operations center is focused
on forging one-of-a-kind operations to demonstrate and field emerging
space missions and satellite command and control technologies in a
rapid, decisive manner, and it is the focal point for cutting edge
technologies.
